Assumption School is proud of its academic excellence.
We offer a well-rounded program geared toward moving all kids forward with their education and preparing them for tomorrow’s challenges. Our Catholic values are promoted in every aspect of our worship and prayer, our curriculum, our service. Assumption students nurture their spiritual development by Learning, Loving & Living Christ!
A challenging educational curriculum allows each student to reach his/her maximum potential. Differentiated instruction seeks to empower each student to obtain knowledge and develop the practical skills to apply it in daily life. Our comprehensive approach to education truly nurtures the whole child.
Assumption School students in grades 3 through 8 take the Iowa Basic Skills Test each year. Although standardized test scores are only one small factor in assessing the overall success of an academic program, Assumption students repeatedly score well above average on these tests. The students graduating from Assumption School in 2018 had a 98% rate of getting into the high school of choice. 84% of our 8th grade students will go on to Catholic high schools like St. Dominic, DeSmet, Incarnate Word, CBC, and Ursuline Academy.
Assumption school is accredited by the Missouri Nonpublic School Accrediting Association. In addition to certified classroom teachers, there is a tremendous support team as well. We have two learning consultants, teacher aides, a librarian, a full time nurse and counselor, a receptionist and a secretary. In addition to regular classroom instruction we have five specialty teachers for Music, Art, Computers, Physical Education, and Spanish.
Faith is nurtured in many ways at Assumption School.
First, it begins with prayer. There is an all-school prayer service every Monday. Lower grades attend Mass on Tuesdays and the upper grades attend Mass on Wednesdays. Each Friday the entire school attends Mass. There are scheduled opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Retreats and other special events add to the faith development of our students. Of course, all of this is in addition to receiving solid Catholic instruction and guidance each and every day in the classroom.
The faculty and staff at Assumption School work diligently to support and affirm parents in their role as primary teachers of their children in the faith. An environment of joy and Christ-like love is fostered in the school. This enables students to do more than just learn about God. They come to truly know God and experience His love through all of the people who care for them.
