New Families

Assumption School is proud of its academic excellence. We offer a well-rounded program geared toward moving all kids forward with their education and preparing them for tomorrow’s challenges. We invite you to become a part of Assumption School.

Families of other parishes are welcome to attend, subject to space availability, with the permission of the pastor of the parish in which they live.

Catholic students are given preference in admission. In keeping with the ecumenical spirit of the Church, all religious traditions are respected and, space permitting, students from other faith traditions are welcome. Non-catholic students may attend based on the discretion of the pastor and principal.

The family should show an interest in the education of their children and a willingness to participate in parish life. The student will be expected to comply with all school regulations and behave in a manner conducive to good learning. Families will be expected to sign and abide by the Parental Witness Statement.

The principal/staff will place the student in a class that satisfies his/her individual needs. Grade placement will be assisted by the results of a standardized achievement test, as directed by the Archdiocesan School Office and/or the report card from previous school. Admission priorities will follow the guidelines as stated in the registration policy.

Annual Registration Procedures

Registration for the upcoming school year for Grades K – 8 will be held at the beginning of the 2nd semester. The registration form and fee need to be submitted at that specified time in order to reserve the student’s placement in the class. The registration fee includes all textbooks, workbooks, Archdiocesan fee, testing costs and art materials. The fee will be determined by the Pastor and Principal, depending on costs of books and supplies. Registration fees are not refundable.

Children registering for Kindergarten must be 5 years of age by August 1st.

Children registering for PreSchool 3 must be 3 years of age by August 1st.

Children registering for PreSchool 4 must be 4 years of age by August 1st. Registration priorities will generally follow these guidelines because of space availability:

  • Students and siblings of students already in attendance at Assumption at the time of registration.
  • Families registered in either Assumption or St. Barnabas Parish, who are actively participating in parish activities (regular Sunday Mass attendance, involvement in parish activities, etc).
  • If registration exceeds space limitations (60 for Kindergarten, 60 for Grades 1 – 8) a lottery system will be used.
  • If space is available after registration is completed, students will be accepted on a first-come basis, after an interview with the Pastor and Principal.

Before entering Assumption School, the following must be submitted:

  • Application Form and Fee
  • Baptismal Certificate (if not baptized at Assumption or St. Barnabas)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Number
  • Completed Physical Examination Form
  • Updated Immunization Records
  • Signed Parental Witness Statement

New Registration

New families who are moving in to the parish and wish to enroll their children in school must first register in the parish office. They will then be directed to see the principal who will request to see the Baptismal records, report card of the previous school, and any other pertinent information relative to the child’s vital statistics.

Transfers from Public Schools

Assumption School is an option for any parents who are Assumption parishioners. While parents may have begun their child’s academic career in a public or other private school setting, parents may decide Assumption School is possibly a good fit for their child. We care for every child’s academic, social and emotional growth thus, a conference will be held to determine the reasons for the transfer and to insure that such a transfer will be in the best interest of the child. In addition, we want to provide the best learning environment possible so students will, upon acceptance, be evaluated to ensure proper placement.
