Students Honor Those Who Serve

Led by the 8th-grade class, on Friday, Nov. 7, the students of Assumption Catholic School came together in faith and gratitude to honor the courageous men and women who have selflessly served our nation during a Veterans Prayer Service at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Veterans of our school community were invited to wear their uniforms and join us in this sacred gathering, followed by a cupcake reception for all.

With hearts lifted in prayer in Assumption Church, the students shared blessings, presented prayer cards, and gifted a special pin to Veterans as a respectful token of appreciation for their sacrifice and service.

We were deeply blessed to have Marine Corps Sgt. "Rocky" Sickmann, a humble member of our parish community and local Missouri hero and one of 65 Americans held hostage in Iran for 444 days during the Iran Hostage Crisis in 1979, as our special guest speaker. His story of courage and faith inspired all in attendance.

A heartfelt thank you to the St. Louis Review, Mid Rivers Newsmagazine, KSDK News, and Fox News for helping us shine a light on this beautiful celebration of faith, gratitude, and patriotism. May we continue to honor and pray for all those who have served, asking God to bless them abundantly for their courage and sacrifice.
