Experiencing Christmas Around the World!
Assumption second and third graders had the opportunity to travel to four different countries as part of their “Christmas Around the World” classroom activity, Thursday, Dec. 14. Along the journey, they learned about Christmas traditions in Germany, Italy, Mexico and Sweden. In each country they made a craft and had a traditional treat from that country.
In preparation for their travels, they created passports and suitcases. Passports were stamped as they entered each country, and they assembled a suitcase where they acquired stickers to place on their cases.
After showing their boarding pass, they boarded the plane where they were greeted in each of the languages by our flight attendants, Mrs. De Martini and Mrs. Begley.
Teachers dressed in their countries’ attire and taught traditions associated with that country. Mrs. Kleckner’s room was Germany, Mrs. Welby's room was Italy, Mrs. Mudd's room was Mexico and Mrs. Cook’s room was Sweden.
We hope each student enjoyed their travels and learned something along the way.
