Assumption school is proud to announce that a school newspaper is coming! Recently, a group of five seventh grade girls came up with the idea to form a newspaper. Immediately, they established a plan, arranged meetings and researched information on how to create a school paper. After about a month of working the editors for the upcoming newspaper, Ava Grossman, Madison Huff, Gabby Keithley, Anna Kleckner, and Sydney Moore established everything required to set their plan in motion. The St. Barnabas Holy Name Men’s Group sponsors a Veteran’s Essay Contest each year at Assumption. The group determines a question(s) which need to be addressed in the essay and requires a minimum of 100 words. Spelling and grammar are important in the process of their review and selection of the winners. Both our 7th and 8th grade students have participated this year’s contest. Throughout fall, on a weekly basis, one second grade student in each class takes home a Prayer Chalice so it may be “filled with prayers”. As members of the class receiving the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist this year, students also receive a binder of prayers to help each family deepen their appreciation for the Eucharist. All families review of materials with their child and discuss the importance of Eucharistic Adoration, as well as some worship aides that help our students discover the meaning in this beautiful devotion.
