This year, we piloted and partnered with St. Dominic High School to offer Spanish to our 7th and 8th graders after school on the SD campus. Seven of our students, after their year of classes, took the Spanish Advanced Placement Test at St. Dominic and seven (7) of the eight (8) placed in Honors Spanish I next year, with one (1) student placing in Honors Spanish II.
The Placement Test included both written and verbal abilities and was the Semester I final exam for the High School. In order to place in Honors, a student must achieve above a 90%.
For 2019-2020, we will again partner with St. Dominic to offer the Spanish program. Registration will be held in late April for our current 7th graders, and if room is available, to current 6th graders. St. Dominic will now be offering this opportunity to other area Catholic Elementary School students beginning in August, 2019.
Congratulations to our Assumption 8th graders placing in Freshman Honors Spanish and Sophomore Honors Spanish next year at St. Dominic:
Honors Spanish I - Mary Kate Mulvaney, Kelly Welby, Grace Burle, Isabella Fischer, Cooper Smith, Colton Thomas, Olivia Arrowood
Honors Spanish II - Mia Cornelius
