Dan Killeen, author and illustrator of five (5) children's books, visited Assumption on Thursday, April 11.  Three groups of students, K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 gathered in Hall C to meet Mr. Killeen, hear about his journey to become an author and illustrator, then listen to a story and watch him draw a character from his books.

Dan grew up in the St. Louis area, attended Catholic schools, and after graduating from Desmet Jesuit in 1989, attended Indiana University, where he studied Business.  During his grade school years, Dan had been told by his 7th grade teacher, that with his writing and art talents, he should continue to practice and this became his lifelong dream - to become a cartoonist for a newspaper.  Although his journey took some time, about seven years ago, he made a significant career move to become a children's book author.

Following Dan's presentation, students of all age groups had questions about his artistry, his process for writing, and where he got his ideas for the books.
