8th and 2nd grade Reading Partners

Posted on October 04, 2019 in: General News

At Assumption, Partner Reading, is a cooperative learning strategy in which two students work together to read.  In our 2nd grade classes, this strategy has 8th grade students taking turns to read with their 2nd grade partner.   This model of fluent reading from our 8th graders to our 2nd graders helps them learn decoding skills with 8th graders offering positive feedback.  With this educational approach, the teacher has direct opportunities to circulate in the class, observe students, and listen for comprehension, and offer individual remediation.
