The NJHS at Assumption School is a highly selective honor society that promotes appropriate recognition for its students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of:
7th and 8th grade students who have been at Assumption for the two most recent consecutive quarters and meet the minimum cumulative middle school Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement, currently set at 3.750**, are eligible to receive an invitation to complete the NJHS interest packet during 3rd quarter of each school year.
Invitations will be handed out in December by Mrs. Kleckner and Mrs. Welby to those students who have met the eligibility requirements. Interest packets must include a guardian signature, be complete, and submitted by the deadline to be considered for membership into NJHS. In addition to academic excellence, selection for membership is based on exhibited leadership, honorable and admirable character in the classroom, school, and the community. Selection for membership is conferred upon students by an anonymous Faculty Council and based on review and assessment of the candidate’s completed interest packet and review of the student’s records. New members will be inducted during an annual ceremony that takes place near the end of 3rd quarter.
Chapter Advisors:
Mrs. Jamie Welby, Assistant Principal jwelby@abvmtech.org
Bess Kleckner, Administrative Assistant for the D.R.E bkleckner@abvmtech.org ** GPA will be calculated by averaging the final year letter grade of these core classes: Reading, Writing, Religion, Math, Science and Social Studies. The candidate's Middle School cumulative grade will be the average of those GPA's to the nearest thousandth.
