Welcome to Assumption Catholic School
Education with Purpose, Value and Excellence
Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary welcomes children, 6 weeks to 8th grade, to quality education rooted in the Gospel message of Love and Acceptance. Using curriulum that adheres to National Catholic Standards and Missouri Standards, we create a dynamic future where students explore their interests and pursue their talents. The motto of Assumption, " Learning, Loving & Living Christ!" is a lived reality within the school through attitude and action.
A challenging educational curriculum allows each student to reach his/her maximum potential. Differentiated instruction seeks to empower each student to obtain knowledge and develop the practical skills to apply it in daily life. Our comprehensive approach to education truly nurtures the whole child. Throughout the day, teachers connect the relationship between academic content and our Catholic beliefs, history, and values. In Science, for example, referring to Catholic Scientists and their work in the field: Leonardo DaVinci, Galileo Galilei, Louis Pasteur, Fibonacci, Maria Agnesi, etc.
Assumption school is accredited by the Missouri Nonpublic School Accrediting Association. In addition to certified classroom teachers, there is a tremendous support team as well. Two learning consultants, nine teacher aides, a reading interventionist, a full time nurse and counselor, and a receptionist and secretary staff. In addition to regular classroom instruction we have five specialty teachers for Music, Art, Science, and Physical Education.
Faith is nurtured at Assumption School.
As an authentic Catholic program, each morning begins with prayer. There is an all-school prayer service every Monday for all students, faculty and staff. Our lower grades attend Mass on Tuesdays with the upper grades attending Mass on Wednesdays. Every Friday, we worship with an All-School Mass, and on the first Friday of each month, we have Adoration following mass. There are scheduled opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, retreats and other faith-filled events to add to the spiritual development of our students. Of course, all of this is in addition to receiving solid Catholic instruction and guidance in the classroom.
The faculty and staff at Assumption School work diligently to support and affirm parents in their role as primary teachers of their children in the faith. An environment of joy and Christ-like love is fostered in the school. This enables students to do more than just learn about God. They come to truly know God and experience His love through all of the people who care for them.
