Assumption Students Shower the Community with Love During Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 29-Feb. 3


Assumption Catholic School students in pre-K-8th grades will be Showering the Community with Love during the annual Catholic Schools Week celebrations, Sunday, Jan. 29 through Friday, Feb. 3.

During this weeklong celebration, students will not only be collecting shower supplies for those in need through the Assumption St. Vincent de Paul Society, they will be handing out sweet treats to parents during morning drop off, flowers to teachers, gift baskets to O’Fallon first responders and so much more!

Here's the lineup of activities and events planned for Catholic Schools Week: 

Sunday, Jan. 29: We kick off Assumption Catholic Schools Week with 10 a.m. Mass in Church, followed by our annual SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE AND ENROLLMENT event featuring a special giveaway and tours of the Early Childhood Education Center and Elementary and Middle School buildings from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend! Monday, Jan. 30: PARENT APPRECIATION DAY begins with teachers handing out sweet muffin treats to parents during morning drop off from 7-7:45 a.m. in the school parking lot, followed by an annual Spelling Bee Contest for students in grades 2-8 in the Church at 1 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 31: CLERGY APPRECIATION begins with a special blessing to all clergy by Assumption students in grades K-4 during at 8 a.m. Mass in the Church with Assumption Pastor, Father Nick Kastenholz presiding. The students also will present a basket of gifts to our priests during Mass.

Wednesday, Feb. 1: TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION DAY begins with students bringing flowers to teachers in the morning, and presenting them with a memory book and lunch in the afternoon. A special thanks to Texas Roadhouse of O’Fallon for donating hot rolls and sweet butter for the occasion and Assumption PTO for providing the teachers with lunch!

Thursday, Feb. 2: COMMUNITY APPRECIATION DAY begins with students delivering thank you posters and care packages filled with goodies to O’Fallon City Hall on Main Street, the office of O’Fallon Mayor Bill Hennessy, and the O’Fallon Fire Department on Main Street beginning at 1 p.m. Other organizations also will recieve gifts from the students. 

Friday, Feb. 2: STUDENT APPRECIATION DAY begins with an all-student Gaga Ball Tournament from 8 a.m.-12: 45 p.m. in the gymnasium or outside on the school campus. Trivia for grades 5-8 in the Parish Center from 12:45-2:15 p.m. BINGO in the classrooms throughout the day. A movie and popcorn for the younger students in preschool-4th grades during the day. A special Chick-Fil-A lunch from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The fun-filled day ends with a prayer service with awards from 2:40-3 p.m. in the Church.
