Assumption School finishes big in the Archdiocese of St. Louis 2024 Chess

Thirteen Assumption students earned the opportunity to participate in this year’s finals chess tournament of the year, February 24, at St. Louis Priory High School. The top 40 qualifiers in each age group from the season’s four tournaments were invited compete, and the results were outstanding.

Three students earn individual awards:
Dylan Hopkins placed 3rd
Blake Hopkins placed 5th
Timmy Johnson placed 6th

Students also earned two team awards:
3rd/4th grade won 2nd place team (Sebastien Felix, Cqde Hopkins, Lucas Huber, Hazel Molitor)
7th/8th grade won 2nd place team (Timmy Johnson, Jackson Vencill, Sam Molitor, Sena Akpovo).

And several were 2024 Chess finalists:
K-2: Lincoln Black, Dylan Hopkins, Dylan Huber
3-4: Sebastien Felix, Cade Hopkins, Lucas Huber, Hazel Molitor
5-6: Blake Hopkins, Charlie Molitor
7-8: Sena Akpovo, Timmy Johnson, Sam Molitor, Jackson Vencill
