Admission Policy

Assumption School is proud of its academic excellence and faith -filled experiences.  Our mission focuses on transforming students through the power of faith and knowledge, preparing them for tomorrow’s challenges. We invite you to become a part of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School community.

Catholic students are given preference in admission. In keeping with the ecumenical spirit of the Church, all religious traditions are respected and,       space permitting, students from other faith traditions are welcome. Non-Catholic students may attend based on the discretion of the pastor and principal.

The family should show an interest in the education of their children and a willingness to participate in parish life. The student will be expected to comply with all school regulations and behave in a manner conducive to good learning. Families will be expected to sign and abide by the Parental Witness Statement.

The principal/staff will place the student in a class that satisfies his/her individual needs. Grade placement will be assisted by the results of a standardized achievement test, as directed by the Archdiocesan School Office and/or the report card from previous school. Admission priorities will follow the guidelines as stated in the registration policy.

The decision to admit a child is made only after a thorough review of the child's previous school records and all records (Discipline, Attendance, Academic, and Special Needs (if applicable)) relating to the child, if any.  Here is information on services provided to students with Learning Needs: Services Provided to Students with Learning Needs

Annual Registration Procedures

Registration for the upcoming school year will be held at the beginning of the 2nd semester. The online registration form and fee payment need to be submitted at that specified time in order to reserve the student’s placement in the class. The registration fee includes all textbooks, workbooks, Archdiocesan fee, testing costs and art materials. The fee will be determined by the Pastor and Finance  Committee, depending on costs of books and supplies. Registration fees are not refundable.

Children registering for Kindergarten must be 5 years of age by August 1st.

Children registering for PreSchool 3 must be 3 years of age by August 1st.

Children registering for PreSchool 4 must be 4 years of age by August 1st.

Registration priorities will generally follow these guidelines because of space availability:

  • New students for other Catholic families.
  • New families from other non-Catholic families.
  • If registration exceeds space limitations (60 for Kindergarten, 60 for Grades 1 – 8) a lottery system will be used.
  • If space is available after registration is completed, students may be accepted on a first-come basis, after an interview with the Pastor and Principal.

New Registration

New families who are moving in to the parish and wish to enroll their children in school must first register in the parish office. They will then be directed to see the principal who will request to see the Baptismal records (discipline, academic, special needs - if applicable, attendance), report card of the previous school, and any other pertinent information relative to the child’s vital statistics.  Decisions will be based on the previously noted information in the Admission Policy above. For students with dpecial learning needs, here is a booklet describing the services offered at Assumption: Services Provided for Students with Learning Needs

For registration details and forms please our Assumption Student Registration page.

Transfers from Other Schools

While parents may have begun their child’s academic career in a public or other private school setting, they may decide Assumption School could be a good fit for their child. Because we care for every child’s academic, social and emotional growth thus, a conference will be held to discuss the reasons for the transfer and to confirm that such a transfer will be in the best interest of the child. Once all records (discipline, academic, special needs - if applicable, attendance) have been received, the principal will review them.  Decisions will be based on the previously noted information in the Admission Policy above.  For students with dpecial learning needs, here is a booklet describing the services offered at Assumption: Services Provided for Students with Learning Needs
